As director of the Transition Academy, Marijke de Pous strives to create a learning environment that challenges both the teachers and participants to think and act for transformative change. She is responsible for the overall organisation, planning and strategic development of the Transtition Academy, coordinates many of the courses and programs that the TAC offers and greatly enjoys working with the rest of the team to develop new learning programmes.
Before joining DRIFT and starting the Transition Academy, Marijke studied Fine Art (HKU) and worked as a professional artist and webdesigner for a number of years. More recently she studied Philosophy at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, where she wrote her undergraduate thesis on Henri Bergson’s process philosophy, advocating change as fundamental to all things. During her studies in philosophy she worked as a student assistant for several years, teaching workgroups in epistemology and metaphysics and coordinating two philosophical minors. She also co-developed and taught a series of lessons for gifted children for the Science Hub Rotterdam.
